In an earlier post I said we needed to start doing things that were more environmentally friendly. We bought a plastic bin for the kitchen to encourage us to throw more recyclable things in instead of the trash can. And on Sunday I bought reusable shopping bags from Publix, our 2nd favorite grocery store (HyVee is #1). I bought 4 of these bags for 99 cents each. Instead of using 10-12 plastic bags, I filled 2 reusable bags...maybe I didn't need to buy 4!Side Note - for those of you that do not have a HyVee you don't know what you are missing! It is truly an unbelievable grocery store where you can also eat breakfast/lunch, rent a movie, do your banking, stock up on liquor, drop off your dry cleaning and of course get a white mocha latte from the Starbucks Kiosk.

nice!! i, too, have gone a little more green, but i use ll bean boat and tote bags. they are heavy duty, and carry a LOT... i stick it in the buggy and fill it up as i go... not that i use that as a firm stopping place, but i generally know that when it's filled up, i shouldn't buy any/much more stuff. that way i don't have to use plastic! do you find, though, that the cashiers tend to act irritated when you ask to use your own bag? it's like asking to use your own bag somehow pees in their cheerios or something. keep it up... good job!
