That Damn Cat

Our neighbors have a cat. A cat we don't think Trice likes very much. Trice loves to look out the window or storm door and we always know when that cat is around. When that cat walks through our yard, sits on the retaining wall or on the deck railing we hear a low growl or even a bark. Do I dare ask, what Trice would do if she came face to face with that cat?!?!

Going Green - Part II

In an earlier post I said we needed to start doing things that were more environmentally friendly. We bought a plastic bin for the kitchen to encourage us to throw more recyclable things in instead of the trash can. And on Sunday I bought reusable shopping bags from Publix, our 2nd favorite grocery store (HyVee is #1). I bought 4 of these bags for 99 cents each. Instead of using 10-12 plastic bags, I filled 2 reusable bags...maybe I didn't need to buy 4!

Side Note - for those of you that do not have a HyVee you don't know what you are missing! It is truly an unbelievable grocery store where you can also eat breakfast/lunch, rent a movie, do your banking, stock up on liquor, drop off your dry cleaning and of course get a white mocha latte from the Starbucks Kiosk.

Woot

I'm not sure if you have ever been to woot.com but I (try to) check it everyday. Each day there is one item for sale, and usually at a discounted price. Check it out if you have time!

Destin

We enjoyed our long weekend in Destin with DJ's grandparents. We got an early start Saturday morning and were in Destin before 5pm. We did a little outlet shopping, played several games of dominoes, ate yummy food and enjoyed some grandparent time. DJ's grandparents are Minnesota snowbirds - they head south for Destin sometime in December and will return to the cool Midwest in March.

SNOW!

Yes, once in a blue moon it snows in South Carolina. We are traveling home from Destin and hope we do not encounter any weather problems. Keep you fingers crossed!

Southern Farming

As we traveled to Destin, we drove through several small towns in southern Georgia. For those of you that have never traveled below the Mason "Dixie" Line we also have farms...just a little different than corn and soybean fields. These are pictures of cotton fields and pecan trees.

Bargain Shopper

There is one advantage to having the new TV... It is too big to go on the old stand we had, so it's temporarily on the coffee table until I find a media console. We've (I've) been wanting to get rid of that coffee table because it takes up most of the den. My sister and I went to Marshall's and TJ Maxx this weekend and I spotted this bargain. It fit in their Volvo so we brought it home and DJ loved it... The ottoman has several options - trays up, leather sides up or one each way - so it's a keeper and the old coffee table goes!

The Bigger, The Better

DJ got a new television, and it's ginormous. His snowmobling trip to Wisconsin with the Iowa boys isn't going to happen this year...so that means we've got extra cash lying around to blow (right!). The tv is setup in the den and the best news is the Playstation is also hooked up downstairs!! Maybe in our next house we'll have a true FROG or basement for man's world.

Green Thumb

OK...well it's really a teal thumb. I was cutting an onion tonight and cut my finger. After about 20 minutes and DJ calling the insurance company to see if we should go to the doc in the box or the emergency room, the bleeding stopped. DJ bandaged my wound...we'll see how it looks in the morning.
